Speaker Series: Marilu Cisneros
Marilu Cisneros, Director of Community Schools in West Marin since 2023, speaks about Basic Needs Closets, an initiative to provide essential items such as clothing, toiletries, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies. This resource will be available to families in need, ensuring that they can get the help they need in real-time, without having to navigate complicated systems or wait for external resources. The Basic Needs Closets will not only support students' educational success but also improve their overall well-being by alleviating the daily strain of not having access to these essentials.
Marilu Cisneros is a bilingual and bicultural professional who migrated from Michoaćan, Mexico, to the U.S. at a young age. As the Director of Community Schools in West Marin since 2023, Marilu leads district-wide efforts to create inclusive and supportive systems for students and families. She brings a strong background in media relations, communications, case management, community engagement, and parent support. Her work at Shoreline Unified focuses on building partnerships, removing barriers to student success, and ensuring families have access to vital resources. Since November 2023,
Marilu works to uplift the diverse voices and foster meaningful engagement. Her journey allows her to deeply connect with the experiences of many Shoreline Unified students, particularly newcomers and English learners.
